Happy Gotcha Day!
After adopting your fur baby, did you find yourself questioning when their actual birthdate was? That’s okay! Most rescued pets are given an estimated time of birth because, more often than not, we do not know what their exact day of delivery is. Now is the time to start celebrating Gotcha Day!
“Gotcha Day” is a term for the anniversary of the day when a pet joins a family through adoption. A great way to celebrate your pet’s adoption is by paying it forward to the pet shelter or rescue alma mater! By helping the place that gave you your beloved furry friend, you would be helping all of the animals that are still in need of a forever home. Inspiring others to adopt is another excellent way to honor and celebrate Gotcha Day. We can reach millions of people with just a short post. Think about it. Your adoption journey could inspire someone else to give an animal in need the forever home; it’s that easy! Showing your story can give someone the information they need to take the next steps in the pursuit to find each animal a loving home.
In addition to helping the animals still in need, treat your furry friend to some new dog products or cat products! Why shouldn’t that unspoken rule of receiving gifts on your birthday apply to our pets too? Get your feline some stimulating catnip toys and your puppers the new Yakima Camp bed you’ve wanted to get! It’s important to remember that your new member of the family will have trauma. Their life before going home with you could have been traumatizing and not a happy memory for them. Healing that trauma by additionally providing them comfort items like toys, blankets, shelters, and a place they can use as their safe space will help ease the transition and let them know they are safe and secure.
During the next Gotcha Day celebration, always remember why you are celebrating in the first place. It is time to take action for our dogs, cats, and horses who need our help! At Shop for Rescues, we use the revenue we create to try and save animals found or surrendered, suffering in abusive homes, overcrowded municipal shelters, or in kill environments. We do this by donating a large portion of the revenues derived through the sale of pet products and supplies with the general buying public. You can help the cause by ordering from Shop for Rescues contact Shop for Rescues if you want to join the movement!
